Sally's and Esperanza's friendship is compromised when Sally ditches Esperanza for a boy at a carnival, leaving Esperanza to be sexually assaulted by a group of men. She recounts other instances of assault she has faced, like an older man forcibly kissing her at her first job. Esperanza's traumatic experiences and observations of the women in her neighborhood, many of whom are controlled by the men in their lives, only further cement her desire to leave Mango Street. It is only when she meets Rachel and Lucy's aunts, who tell her fortune, that she realizes her experiences on Mango Street have shaped her identity and will remain with her even if she leaves. As the novel ends, Esperanza vows that after she leaves, she will return to help the people she has left behind. The House on Mango Street covers the formative years of Esperanza Cordero, a young Chicana girl living in an impoverished Chicago neighborhood with her parents and three siblings.

Flea bites can leave incredibly itchy, unsightly welts that take months to heal on people, although it's even worse for Fido and Fluffy, because fleas live on animals, attacking them over and over. As noted before, steam clean, vacuum, and wash your pet’s bedding. You should wash it every couple of days for the first week to help eradicate any surviving fleas. You don’t want to expose other people to the fleas, and the chemicals used in dry cleaning may not be pet-friendly.
Cleaning Your Home
The best way to eliminate fleas from your yard is to think about where they’re most like to hide. If your pet is a walking carrier of mature fleas, your home can become the nursery. However, filled with chemicals, commercial treatments often stand at odds with the sustainable garden ideas.
But with proper care and consistent cleaning, you can get rid of fleas for good. The first step is figuring out how fleas got into your home in the first place. Lift the couch, squeeze under the bed, move the bookcase, and vacuum vacuum vacuum! While the new couch you got for a deal may go great with your curtains, there could be something lurking inside the furniture that doesn’t go well with anything in your home – flea eggs. Flea bites on humans occur most often around the ankles or lower legs.
Our experts continually monitor the health and wellness space, and we update our articles when new information becomes available. Fleas are ready to feed within a day of hatching, and begin to suck blood within 10 seconds of landing on a host.

The most important thing to remember is that you must treat your home, yard, and pet at the same time. A combination approach works best to eradicate fleas and prevent future infestations. Since the flea has multiple life stages (egg, larvae, cocoon, adult), when adult fleas are present, it is assumed all of these stages are also present throughout your house. This means that you have to tackle the problem from all angles in order to truly eradicate the infestation. Fleas are after blood and can bite people or latch onto our clothes or shoes. Pets are ideal hosts because thick fur provides plenty of shelter for fleas to latch onto skin and feed, or lay eggs.

Unfortunately, these tiny acrobats are avid jumpers, able to leap 7 inches vertically and 13 inches horizontally. These bloodsucking insects leave behind itchy bites, and in some cases, can carry and transfer disease. Protecting your pets with regular medication is the first step in prevention, but even homes without pets can sometimes become infested with fleas. Once you vacuum the house and wash the bedding, give your dog a bath.

After 24 to 48 hours, vacuum everywhere thoroughly, then dispose of the sealed vacuum bag, ideally outside. Therefore, treating the fleas on your pet is not an effective strategy on its own. Yes, you may get rid of the flea at that moment in time; however, what will happen is new fleas will hatch, grow, develop, and ultimately jump back onto your dog or cat, and the cycle will continue.
Adult fleas live on the fur of animals where they will lay their eggs. The average life cycle of a flea is around 100 days, however, they can live indoors for up to a year if the conditions are favourable to them. Wash your pets with anti-flea shampoo you've purchased at your vet or that's recommended by your vet. Begin by washing from the head down, paying special attention to the areas where fleas like to gather, like on the face and neck, under the legs, around the front of the tail and in the groin area.
For a trip further afield, there’s the charming seaside towns of Southwold and Lowestoft. Fleas repel rosemary's strong pungent smell, so this technique also works wonders if your dog has fleas. For it to work, boil some rosemary in a pan with water and leave it to cool down overnight. Then, drain the liquid into a spray bottle (make sure you separate the sprigs so none fall in). "Flea eggs can be brought into your home on your cat or dog's coat, and then they can remain undetected for some time." Fleas can be dangerous to both pets and humans because they are parasites that can spread bloodborne illness and cause skin irritation.
Consider bathing your pet more often during this period as well. Fleas are far less prevalent in the winter than in the summer, but they can still hang on even during a cold, damp winter season. You should protect your pets year-round from fleas, not just in the warmer months. If you stop treatment in the winter, it may cause a reinfestation of fleas. Eggs are bound to get kicked beneath things, moved around, and missed with the vacuum. When the eggs hatch and complete their life cycle, you’ll have more fleas to take care of.
Along with vinegar, fruit flies like the smell of fruity beer and wine. Leave out an almost-empty open bottle of stale beer or old wine — the skinny neck will keep the flies trapped. The information is current and up-to-date in accordance with the latest veterinarian research. Notifications can be turned off anytime in the browser settings. "The only ones you are going to catch in a bowl of water, quite frankly, are those who just happened to be in that area and hop into the water," said Cross.
Worth noting, the packaging used thinner plastic and was much lighter-weight (to the point of feeling a little flimsy) compared to other Charlotte Tilbury lip products. It also has a clicking, twist-up mechanism that doesn't lalow for the product to be twist back into the tube, so take care when twisting product out for use. I'm guessing that the more balm-like formula needed that type of mechanism in order not to break at the base. Overall lots to love for easy everyday kind of makeup.
LIP CHEATICONIC NUDE
The shades tended to have mostly opaque to opaque color coverage rather than "medium coverage." Charlotte Tilbury Crystal Happikiss Hyaluronic Happikiss Colour Balm ($34.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a light-medium pink with moderate, warm undertones and a high-shine, glossy finish. It had sheer coverage–and this one shade was described as sheer, hurrah! –with a moderately dense, thicker consistency that had good adhesion to my lips. Despite looking incredibly wet-looking on, it didn’t slide around and hugged my lips comfortably.

I added a swatch of Pillow Talk at the end for reference. I reviewed the Superstar Lips formula last year here. I had mixed feelings because of the price and size of the product. I still do for this reason, but the formula is really nice, especially if you like a glossy lip. Three new shades caught my eye in Glow Kiss, Princess Kiss and Everlasting Kiss (the first two of these are exclusive to Charlotte Tilbury’s website). After hauling all three I decided to give the shimmery ones a try in Pillow Talk Diamonds and Lucky Diamonds as well.
It lasted well for four hours and felt hydrating while worn. Perfect, full, kissable lips really do grow on trees… Charlotte’s debut range of lipsticks are truly remarkable and boast a fail-safe recipe for perfect lips. The unique formula features seed extracts from ‘The Lipstick Tree,’ a plant extract that is exclusive to Charlotte Tilbury. ‘The Lipstick Tree’ is a rare, exotic tree with nurturing and protective properties were originally discovered by Native American women who used the seeds to paint and protect their lips. With an anti-oxidant that naturally protects lips from UV damage and external pollution, lips are left cashmere soft and irresistible.
I find that some of the creamier shades can sit in my lip lines a bit, but it really depends on the shade on how noticeable it is in person. The wear ranges from three to five hours (reds and the like). There's a faint, sweet vanilla scent but no discernible taste. The finish was exceptionally shiny, and it did give the illusion of plumper lips.

This format gives reviewers a way to provide an in-depth review of the same specific aspects of a product, allowing you zero in on the criteria that are most important to you. Charlotte Tilbury Happipetal Hyaluronic Happikiss Colour Balm ($34.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark orange-coral with strong, warm undertones and a high-shine, glossy cream finish. The texture was thicker, slightly denser, and this resulted in a heavier look that was easy to over-apply.

It had rich, opaque color coverage, and the color applied evenly and smoothly. It wore well for four and a half hours, and it was neither drying nor hydrating when worn. At blushgarden, we think differently about reading and writing beauty product reviews. We believe product reviews should provide you with detailed information, let the writer quickly and easily share their thoughts, and be a fun experience for all. To achieve this, we provide a ratings scale for distinct criteria, alongside traditional written comments.

Overall I’m happy with the way all of them look except for Pillow Talk Diamonds. They are very sheer and I find their online stock photos and model photos very misleading. I find they look a lot more pigmented and opaque online than they do in real life – even with heavy lip layering. For the price I’d expect a lot more product at the very least. As much as I like the colors I think the deeper and brighter options I bought last year make for a better buy.

You can find the Charlotte Tilbury Gorgeous Glowing Beauty Palette out now. I do believe it’s limited-edition like all of her other palettes. I bought mine at Sephora and it’s sold out there online, but still available at other places like Nordstrom, Charlotte Tilbury, Bloomingdales and Beautylish to name a few. HappiPetal was the one I was actually referring to in the previous post.
It wore well for three hours and felt hydrating over time. Charlotte Tilbury Enchanting Kiss Hyaluronic Happikiss Colour Balm ($34.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a brighter, medium pink-coral with moderate, warm undertones and a high-shine, glossy finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage, which was slightly more coverage than marketed, that applied somewhat evenly. The Kissing formula is supposed to be pigmented and luminous, while also being hydrating. It has a creamier, lightweight consistency that's comfortable to wear and to apply with a moderately hydrating formula to back it.
Fleas can be tricky to kill because they’re rather good at hiding, and they can live for a year or longer, says Cornell University’s Insect Diagnostic Lab. Also, depending on whom you ask, experts say a flea can lay anywhere from 500 to 5,000 eggs during its lifetime. If you miss any bugs, you could be trapped in a life cycle of misery trying to remove them from your home as they repopulate. If you have a serious flea invasion, have your carpets steam cleaned.

Call an exterminator for a heavy infestation.
If your dog has fleas, you may notice them itching, scratching or chewing at themselves. Flea bites are itchy and can lead to infection and allergic reaction if flea feces or transmitted bacteria enter open wounds from scratching, research shows. The risk of infection can be especially serious if the host has a suppressed immune system. In fact, the CDC recommends that these individuals avoid adopting young cats under one year old, as kittens are more likely to contract CSD from fleas and other infected cats. “The best way to get rid of fleas is to prevent them from getting established in the first place,” advised Hess.

Getting rid of the fleas in your home and on your pets is just the beginning. You need to make sure you don’t have fleas lurking in your tall grass, just waiting to hitch a ride on your pet or your pant leg. Fleas like to hide in warm, shaded areas, so follow these tips to make your yard less hospitable to them. If the infestation is severe enough, you may ultimately save time and money by disposing of the bedding entirely and replacing it. Focus your walk-through on areas where you find flea dirt and that your pet frequents, and those without direct sunlight or heavy foot traffic.
Since the gnats are attracted to the flame, they'll either hit the flame itself or fall into the water and drown. While the candle is lit, we recommend staying in the room to observe the flame until it's time for it to be blown out. Unfortunately, getting rid of fleas is not an instantaneous process. The good news is that you can — and should — start tackling the problem right away. To effectively get rid of fleas, Matta suggests a simultaneous multistep approach, which means thoroughly inspecting and treating the home, yard and pets.
If your pet has fleas, why not consider using an all-natural flea treatment spray? Simply spray on the required area, re-applying every third day for nine days until they have gone. This will also help to minimise the presence of fleas in your home.
Step 1: Brush your pet with a flea comb
According to the American Animal Hospital Association, NexGard's chews are FDA-approved to help kill adult fleas before they can lay eggs, providing protection from fleas and ticks for a full month. Unlike many of the other products we mention that make products for both dogs and cats, NexGard is made for dogs only. Treat all pets in your home regularly with a suitable flea treatment. Whether you have a dog or cat, you'll want to wash their bedding on a hot wash to get rid of any flea eggs.
Wash all bedding in hot, soapy water
You will want to be doing ALL of this washing and cleaning while your pets are, ideally, out of the home, as if they are part of the problem, you are going to be fighting an uphill battle. So typically, I recommend, if possible, that one person take your pet(s) to the veterinarian for treatment while another stays home and cleans. Plus, you do not want to expose them to the area treatments until they are vacuumed up or dried. Pets have walked in the powder or licked the spray before it dried and have been sick. Shake your pet's bedding and any other fabric they sleep or rest on outside to get rid of as much flea dirt and debris as possible. It is best to do this in a sunny spot, as the sunshine helps kill flea eggs, and then make sure to treat this outdoor area for fleas as well.
If you’ve been thinking about ripping up your old carpet, now might be a good time to replace it with tile or another type of hard flooring. Once you’re finished vacuuming, make sure to throw away the bag outside of your home so they don’t make their way back indoors. If you have a bagless vacuum, then you will need to ensure that all the fleas are dead before bringing the container back into your home.
Instead, the organization recommended that people who suspect birds inside their home call a licensed professional. While you can try bird removal yourself, our experts recommend calling the pros. Mela Singleton, owner of 911 WildLife in Houston, estimated that the bird removal process costs between $150 and $350.
Getting rid of fleas inside the house is common problem, so don't panic if you suddenly notice an infestation in your home, especially if you share are living with pets. Gnats thrive on the fungus of your plants, so it helps to let your plant babies dry out between waterings. Once the soil dries out, you'll notice the death of not only the fungus, but the gnat larvae and eggs too.
Fleas can survive for up to two weeks without a host — your pets can come in contact with them in backyards, dog parks and kennels, not to mention contracting them from another animal that has fleas. Once an adult female flea attaches to your pet, she can lay as many as 50 eggs per day and live up to 100 days (depending on how old she was upon attachment). This oral medication can be thrown in with their meals for flea prevention.
You can also make use of natural desiccant dust, such as diatomaceous earth, to help with flea control. This substance is naturally occurring, although breathing in the dust can be harmful, according to the University of Minnesota. Below, we explain how to get rid of fleas in your home for good and when to call in a professional for assistance. The two most important words in cleaning for flea control are thoroughness and persistence. Fleas—members of the order Siphonaptera—are common almost everywhere. There are more than 2,500 species and subspecies of fleas, and it has been reported that 94 percent of all fleas feed on animals.
High ceilings and large windows make it bright and airy, while industrial-style touches mixed with more traditional pieces create a warm and cosy contemporary feel. The open-plan kitchen-dining-living area is framed with charming exposed beams, with plenty of space for everyone to relax, watch television or curl up with a book. The kitchen is very well-stocked, with fresh herbs growing on the windowsill and a utility cupboard for any laundry needs. Upstairs, two bedrooms complete the immaculate lodgings (the second can be made into a twin upon request).
They multiply very quickly, and if left untreated can lead to a bigger infestation. Depending on the level of infestation, it can take anywhere from a few hours to an entire day to clean your home. And you’ll need to keep up this routine for at least two weeks or up to a month—and possibly keep using insecticides for a year to prevent fleas’ return. If your pet is already on a flea treatment product, ask your vet about switching to something else.

If you're traveling with little ones, don't worry — the main dining room also offers a menu curated especially for kids. Dining here is complimentary, with very few exceptions — such as an extra charge for lobster on non-formal nights. If you're lucky and can purchase your package at the lowest possible price, almost anyone who drinks a combination of non-alcoholic drinks and a couple of cocktails daily would break even. But if your purchase price is somewhere in the middle of the price range (where most people land), you would need to consume a minimum of $55 per day beyond the average non-alcoholic beverages to break even. That equals six beers or four or five glasses of wine or cocktails. With Royal Caribbean’s Unlimited Dining Package, you can dine at specialty restaurants for brunch, lunch, and dinner every day of the cruise.

The Solarium pool even has its own bar, so grown-ups can enjoy all their favorite vacation libations just steps away. You will notice that the Deluxe Beverage Package price range listed above is a bit wider than what is posted on Royal Caribbean's site.

In general, Royal Caribbean's big, resort-like Icon Class, Oasis Class and Quantum Class ships will be more expensive than the line's older, smaller vessels (Icon Class ships are particularly pricey). However, there are a lot of factors that go into pricing for any given cruise, including the popularity of the specific itinerary, the time of year when the cruise is taking place and changing demand trends.
Keep in mind, these prices don’t include an additional 18% gratuity. The Deluxe Beverage Package, offering unlimited select drinks, is available for $63–$70 per guest per day. The menu pays tribute to the company's Californian roots, and the dining room has a more intimate feel thanks to being divided into two equal parts that mirror each other. The Arendelle menu is Nordic-influenced, though there are options from a little closer to home, too, should you prefer less-adventurous items. The food here was some of our favorite on the ship, and the show was also pretty top-notch. There's even a celebration line toward the end similar to what happens in Tiana's Place aboard Disney Wonder. The Vacationeer provides its clients with onboard credits of up to $1,000 to use toward spa/salon services and other purchases on the ship!
Worlds of Marvel
The Grand Hall is a castle-inspired atrium, with Gothic, Baroque and French Rococo design influences. At the base of a grand staircase will be a bronze statue of Cinderella. Delivery of the Disney Wish was originally slated for late 2021 with sailings embarking in the early part of 2022. However, as a result of the pandemic, the dates slipped initially to a spring 2022 delivery with the maiden voyage scheduled for June 9, 2022. Then, in February 2022, it was announced there will be a second delay pushing the Maiden Voyage to July 14, 2022.
Each guest will “rotate” around each of the three main dining rooms so they will dine in each restaurant at least once. This is sometimes referred to as the Funnel Suite – because it is housed inside the second, decorative funnel on the ship. The Disney Wish saw the introduction of a very unique space – The Tower Suite.
Gentlemen will appreciate getting an old-fashioned shave (not to mention a cocktail) at Hook’s while the ladies are getting coiffed at Rapunzel’s place. We expect that the appeal of these two locations may be somewhat limited to most travelers, though they’ll certainly be popular for those choosing to have a wedding ceremony onboard the ship. Gents will enjoy getting a haircut, shave, or nail/skin treatment at Hook’s Barbery. The upscale salon is inspired by Captain Hook’s private quarters aboard the Jolly Roger from Disney’s Peter Pan. Guests 21 and older can also enjoy a hidden bar featuring the finest whiskies, bourbon, and rum — with drinks served during treatments and during select special events.
The show is heralded by Captain Redd, descendant of the famous red-headed icon from the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. She and a band of head-banging buccaneers provide the soundtrack for an unforgettable night that includes Captain Jack Sparrow (you have heard of him?) and the industry-first fireworks display at sea. Pirate Night holds a place of honor on many Disney Cruise itineraries, and the Disney Wish is no exception. And once again, Disney Wish’s version seems to add just a little extra to the experience you find onboard the other ships. For little tykes eager to make a splash, Woody, Jessie, and friends present a perfect place.
The modified atrium, for example, has become a better canvas for live entertainment, character appearances, and more. In simple terms, its design serves more practical purposes than aesthetic ones. In so doing, it has made compromises for the sake of functionality, and lost a degree of elegance and sophistication in the process. Adults (18+) who are ready for some quiet time can ride the tram to Serenity Bay with its own dining spot and bar, and open-air massage cabanas for even more relaxation. Describe the cabins. My two friends and I stayed in a Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah, which has a queen bed and a single convertible sofa, as well as a single pull-down bed; plenty of space for three women.
Adult Restaurants on Disney Wish
The Senses Spa will allow adults to truly rest and recharge with a number of spa and beauty treatments on offer, along with spa villas and steam and aromatherapy rooms. Senses Fitness will be there for those who need to let off some steam and exercise. The “It’s a Small World” Nursery will offer babysitting services for those up to 3 years old, while the Oceaneer Club is geared to kids from 3 to 12 with cool play areas. “Families are going to absolutely love this experience," DCL cruise director Jimmy Lynett said. "It is going to be a one-of-a-kind experience only on the Disney Wish." One of the more fantastical additions to the ship is the AquaMouse, Disney’s first attraction at sea.
There will also be four royal suites that can accommodate up to six guests. Two of the suites will also be two stories tall with spiral staircases for those who truly want to live in luxury. Diners will take a more active role in Worlds of Marvel, where some of the Avengers are on a mission and need assistance. The food will be inspired by places featured in the Marvel movies, such as New York, Sokovia and Wakanda. The Hero Zone will be a fully enclosed, air-conditioned sports arena where families will be able to get active and participate in game-show-style competitions. The water ride will take riders along 760 feet and immerse them in “The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse” through the use of special effects and lighting.

It is worth noting, only this second delay impacted sailings as the first occurred well before the inaugural season went on sale. The shops onboard Disney Wish are the largest and have the most ship-exclusive merchandise of the whole fleet. She offers more shopping square footage than any of the other Disney ships. Kids can enjoy games, crafts, and music, and even meet some of their favorite Disney characters. From the Oceaneer Club for kids ages 3 to 12 to the Edge Club for tweens and the Vibe Club for teens, there’s something for everyone. If you are sailing on a 3-night cruise you will not have the separate Pirate Night menu.

In the documentary Maruja Daya, a pastry chef, says she felt like "the rich would be taken care of," expressing concerns that the crew was still working when they were also at risk of being infected. Phones had to be answered, cleaning had to be done, food had to be made and delivered. Eventually, cruise employees were taking everyone's temperatures, with several passenger calling it simply an "inconvenience" to their vacation.
